Zlatan: I have a vision

Cape Town – With his side notching up two wins in two matches and grabbing three goals in the process, Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is thinking big.

Many were concerned that the veteran hitman was past his peak and would struggle to perform in a league that is more competitive than he’s become accustomed to in France, but he has put himself in a position where he can prove the cynics wrong.

Friday night saw the Swede in top form again, scoring twice to help the Red Devils see off a strong Southampton side with ease and giving the club’s millions of supporters hope that this season may well be the one where their club mounts a challenge for the Premier League title once again.

“I believe that we can win the title, I have this vision,” said Ibrahimovic after the match.

“But we need to work hard for it and we will do everything to bother all the other teams that want to win. Now I’m just focusing on trying to help my team win and after two games we have two wins, which is the most important thing.”

The 34-year-old, often criticised for his narcissistic comments in the press, showed refreshing humility in the interview, making it clear that he prizes a good team performance over his own personal one

“Who scores is less important, as long as we are winning. Yes, I’ve scored three goals so far in the Premier League and I’m happy for that but it is only the beginning.

“The season is long, I will work hard, the team will work hard and slowly we will get better and better so let’s see what the outcome will be.”

Jose Mourinho’s side take on Hull City next Saturday at The KC Stadium.
