Four Nigeria soldiers were killed by sea pirates on Sunday within the Bayelsa state creeks in the Niger Delta region within the Bight Of Biafra in the Gulf of Guinea region of Atlantic Ocean. As a result the Nigerian soldiers hunting for suspected sea pirates who killed the 4 soldiers invaded Litugbene and Bilabiri riverine communities of Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The Soldiers reportedly burnt down houses belonging to innocent citizens of the aforementioned communites while displacing the helpless villagers.
These ‘Signature Act’ of the Nigerian military forced the helpless villagers to flee their homes to seek refuge in the nearby Swampy Mangrove forests.
Meanwhile the Ijaw Youth Congress (IYC) has condemned the burning of houses belonging to villagers by the Nigerian military, describing the act as barbaric and unwarranted.
In the same vein, the Ijaw People Development Initiative ( IPDI) through their spokesperson Mr Austin Ozobo has condemned the burning of houses belonging to harmless citizens of Litugbene and Bilabiri comnunities by the Nigerian military. He also called for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous acts.
