Katsina – Honourable Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, the Katsina State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, lambasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other critics of PDP, saying no campaign of calumny against his party could frustrate it from reclaiming Nigeria in 2019.
Majigiri’s statement was in reaction to the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun, comments in Katsina on Saturday that ‘PDP is dead and buried in Buhari’s hometown’.
The state PDP boss, while addressing newsmen in Katsina, on Sunday, said no amount of blackmail would truncate PDP from recapturing Nigeria, left alone Katsina in 2019 general elections.
His words, “No amount of intimidation or campaign of calumny can stop our party’s commitment and desire to put the country on the path of greatness.
“You must agree with me that the present APC government under Governor Aminu Bello Masari is the inept, corrupt, reckless and anti-people government”.
The state PDP chairman also lampooned Oyegun assertion, saying the assertion is a calculated attempt aimed at blackmailing PDP in Katsina and at the national level.
“I want to inform Oyegun that, what he saw was a rented crowd of persons paid from Zamfara and other neighbouring states. The crowd was just an illusion that cannot hold waters in reality, so that cannot affect PDP in any way”.
“Even the recent bye election result which the party is presently challenging, and from what INEC declares as our votes alone you can’t say PDP is dead in Katsina”, Majigiri added.
He described the current efforts of President Muhammadu Bahari in retrieving all the stolen monies from the nation’s coffers as ‘lopsided’.
According to Majigiri, APC which is ‘plundering the resources’ of the country should not be given the mantle of leadership in next year’s general elections, urging PDP supporters to remain calm and united in all ramifications.
