Amaechi said that if Militants were paid Amnesty to drop arms, it is also fair and just to pay Amnesty to members of Boko Haram. This alliance of Amaechi with the north is actually affecting his brain.
How on earth can a sane person compare the Niger Delta militants with Boko Haram? The Niger Delta militants were fighting for the neglect of the people and the Niger Delta region, but can anybody tell me what Boko Haram is fighting for?
The last time I checked, Boko Haram is fighting for the abolition of western Education in the north. They are not saying that the north does not control power (Afterall Buhari from the north is in power yet they are still killiing), they are not fighting against neglect of the north ( the north enjoys a large chunk of the budget and most of the Jonathan’s development were focused on the north), so I am yet to understand what injustice the Nigerian nation has done on the North for the country to pacify the north with the payment of amnesty.
So I think that too much of the association with the north is affecting the brain of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
Report reaching Afroinsider has it that heavy gun battle is ongoing in Bori, Rivers State, between soldiers and militants suspected to be supporters of ex-militant leader, Solomon Ndigbara.
Meanwhile, Afroinsider reports that 3 persons are feared dead at Yeghe in Gokana, the home town of the embattled ex-militant.
The report said the three youths were killed as a result of a shoot-out between the military and some armed cultist when the military invaded the family house of Solomon who has been hiding from security forces.
In the meantime, the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori has been shut down following the gun duel. Eyewitness in Bori said, “No movement in Bori now, as Shops are locked, market is deserted. Many people have sustained injuries from stray bullets.”
The Nigerian Army, 2 Brigade Command, Port Harcourt is expected to brief the Press later today on the development in Ogoni, Rivers state.
The Rivers state House of Assembly has 31 seats .9 seats were already occupied by PDP members while the rerun is for 19 seats. Out of the 19, PDP has already been declared winner in 10 seats. Add 10 to 9 and you get 19.
All that Rotimi Amaechi, Buhari and APC are doing is to ensure that the APC secure a two-third membership of the House so they can impeach Wike. So for now, even if APC wins the remaining 9 seats, they do not have the majority and not to talk of the 2/3 majority.
And with the supreme court ruling and the constitutional provision that provides that if an elected member of a House decamps to another party he forfeits his membership, I do not see any PDP member of the House deecamping to APC unless there is division in PDP .
So from the way I see it. APC has lost out in Rivers state. They should kiss Rivers State goodbye. Amaechi should concentrate on his job of being a minister and let Wike deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Rivers State.
Anybody hoping that Wike would be impeached to allow APC take over, should find another job.
