Brahimi on his part has reportedly attracted admiring glances from the Magpies ahead of the winter transfer window in January.

The Algerian international is, meanwhile, set to run out of contract with the Portuguese giants when the 2018/19 season ends.

And as at this point in time, he does not appear likely to agree fresh terms before the New Year.

Brahimi is therefore in line to make a departure, though, from Porto for a fee in the month of January.

And according to reports from the Shields Gazette, Newcastle are in the race to buy the 28-year-old early next year.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were, however, in the chase to sign Brahimi in the most recent summer transfer window only to fail.

And that was when it came to agreeing personal terms while Everton are another side who are also sniffing around.

Brahimi emerges as summer transfer target for Wolves

Since earning promotion to the Premier League, Wolves have had a whole lot of transfer links with various high-profile additions.

That particularly is the situation with manager, Nuno Espirito Santo very much eager to fortify the team in every department.

According to a report from A Bola, Brahimi is also on Nuno’s wish-list for Wolves when the summer window starts.

The two men have, meanwhile, also once worked together when Nuno coached the Primeira Liga giants during the 2016/17 season.

Meanwhile, the Algerian international has so far, so good netted 38 goals from 144 appearances in every competition for Porto.

On the other hand, he scored ten times while making eight assists from 40 overall outings during the 2017/18 term.

The 28-year-old has only more than twelve months more to run on his deal.

There has also been a claim suggesting that a release clause is in the North African star’s deal.
