Within these very few days of 2018, not fewer than 300 human beings has been killed in separate incidents in Nigeria. From Benue to Rivers State there have been uneasy calm as a result of Killing by Fulani herdsmen and unknown gunmen respectively. Since the inception of President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership on May 29th 2015, the Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram terrorist groups have been waxing stronger. In Benue state alone, about 290 people were reportedly killed by Fulani Herdsmen.
Fulani Herdsmen has been ranked as the 4th most dangerous terrorist group in the world. while the Nigerian government pampers them. However, a comparative analysis of statistics of the casualties resulting from the various terrorist organizations reveals that the Fulani Herdsmen might actually be the number one most deadly terrorist organization in the world.
While the Fulani Herdsmen has been declared a terrorist organization by the Global Terrorist Index, the Nigerian Government which is headed by a Fulani Herdsman in the person of Muhammadu Buhari has refused to declare the Nomadic Terror Squad a terrorist organization.
Instead, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which is an Indigenous population of over 70 million benevolent people asking for freedom, were labelled a terrorist organization. However, the US embassy in Nigeria was quick to refute the claims by the Nigerian government. Also the Nigerian Senate president Bukola Saraki also refuted the claims. The Indigenous People of Biafra are in almost all countries of the world and has never involved in any form of violence anywhere in the world.
“I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria. God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of sharia in the country.”
Noteworthy also , is the fact that not even a single Fulani Herdsman has been arrested since they began their blood bath in Nigeria. The Nigerian army is believed to be working hand in hand with these murderous herdsmen.
There have been cases where villagers reported that the Military helicopters deliver military hardware’s to these herdsmen. In 2016, villagers in Delta state sighted Nigerian military helicopters dropping weapons to the Fulani Herdsmen in the Forest. Also in a similar incident in Enugu in 2016, Nigerian military helicopter was spotted dropping weapons to the Nomadic terrorists.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari , had said in a radio program in 2013, that the Fight against Boko Haram is a fight against the North. He said this while condemning the then President Goodluck Jonathan for fighting the Islamic terrorist Group Boko Haram. Also Mr Buhari was quoted as saying “I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria. God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of sharia in the country.”
Furthermore, these Fulani herdsmen enjoy the protection of the Nigerian Military. In Awgu Enugu state in 2016, a group of youths had pursued after Fulani herdsmen who killed some people in the community and abducted two girls. The Nigerian army interrupted the chase and arrested the youths while letting the Herdsmen escape. The arrested youths were kept in Umuahia prison without trial for more than 90 days before they were released.
On the 2nd of January 2018, Fulani Herdsmen, struck again in Benue state and killed more than 290 persons. Instead of the military arresting the Herdsmen, they began to shoot at youths protesting the killings by the herdsmen. At least 2 unarmed youths who were among the protesters were shot dead by the Nigerian army. Also there have been reports of these Herdsmen running into army Barracks to seek refuge when chased after by villagers.
The Buhari government has released more than 1000 convicted Boko Haram members. Notable among them is Kabiru Sokoto who was convicted of masterminding the St Theresa Catholic Church bombing on the 20th of December 2014 in which 44 persons lost their lives while 75 others were badly injured. About 800 of the released terrorists while inducted into the Nigerian army. So little wonder why the Nigerian army is sympathetic to terrorist.
We must not forget that Boko Haram made Muhammadu Buhari their Chief Negotiator when the Jonathan government wanted to negotiate with them. Many had accused Muhammadu Buhari and other Northern Politicians of sponsoring the deadly terror group, Boko Haram.
From all indications, the current Nigerian government has something to do with these terrorists.
