An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 26-year-old unemployed man, Basit Adebayo, at the Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, for allegedly robbing a woman of her mobile phone at knife point.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Jadesola Adeyemi-Ajayi, did not take the plea of the accused but ordered that he should be remanded in prison.
The accused, who resides at 9, Okesalu St., Ikotun, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and robbery.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on July 3 at 13, Ganiyu St., Idimu, Lagos.
Akeem said that the accused, with others now at large, went into one Mrs Ramat Bello’s house through the back door that was not locked and stole her cell phone valued at N105,000 at knife point.
He added that a neighbour heard them while they were shouting at the complainant and alerted other tenants.
