The Lagos State Government has asked the general public to disregard any information Lagos Bus Service Limited (formerly known as LAGBUS) is recruiting drivers, Concise News reports.

Lately, reports were rife on social media that LAGBUS is recruiting. But Idowu Oguntona, the Managing Director, Lagos Bus Service Limited in a statement on Tuesday says if and when such recruitment would take place, the public would be informed through the Official channels of the Lagos State Government.

Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) was incorporated on 1st August 2016 as a Transport Asset Acquisition, Operations, and Advisory Services Company to provide a much-needed compass and guide to the operation of Bus Services in Lagos.

As Lagos evolves into a smart city, LBSL is positioned to create a very competitive space in the Transport Industry where urban mobility guarantees a market for mass transit transport operators; with availability and pricing as key decision drivers.

LBSL is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring the orderliness, proper coordination and progress of the Transport Industry in Lagos.

In January, former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said 820 buses will be released in March 2019 to mark the commencement of the Bus Reform Project in the state.

He said the initiative would redefine public transport and make the state globally competitive. However, this online news medium cannot independently verify if that vow was met as at the time of filing this report.

The extensive Bus Reform Project of the Lagos State Government has the potential to transform transit advertising in the state.

Lagos is currently pursuing an integrated affordable multi-modal transport system that will ensure that citizens arrive their destinations in the least possible time frame, using the State public transport in concord to a former Mayor of Bogota postulation that, ‘a developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It’s where the rich use public transport’.
