Kenya: Mercy Nyanchama Wins Ladies Medal at Thika

Vet Lab Sports Club’s Mercy Nyanchama fired seven over par 79 to claim the gross title in the Ladies Medal sponsored by Jamleck Kamau at the par 72 Thika Greens Golf Resort at the weekend.

Pat Odima also from Vet Lab clinched the Silver Division title with a fine score of 71 nett, beating Mary Muthoni and Rachel Ndei by two shots.

In the Bronze division, Rose Wanjiku posted nett 68 to win by two shots from Carol Kibanya while Eunice Kinungi was third with 72 nett. The gross title went to Grace Wanjohi with a score of 94 gross. Leading the men was Anthony Kioi who posted nett 66, beating Paul Orawo of Kenta Railway Golf Club on countback with Dominic Chege finishing third on 68 nett.

The nines went to Kiragu Chege and Francis Muraya on 32 nett each while Anthony Irungu and Mercy Nyanchama won the longest drive men and Jackie Mapesa fired in one at the par three-17th hole, to claim the nearest to pin award.

At Ruiru Sports Club, Jessy Ndegwa combined 21 and 20 for 41 points to win the overall prize in the Ngao Credit Golf day where Angelus Maina was the men winner with a score of 40 points made up of 21 and 19 points, beat John Maigua by one point. Finishing in third place was John Njenga with 38 points.

The ladies top prize went to Catherine Wambui with a score of 38 points, winning by four points from Beth Ngugi while Agnes Mwaura was third on 31 points. The nines went to Duncan Maina and John Mwangi with 20 and 21 points. Leading the guests was Thomas Thal who carded 37 points made up of 18 and 19 points.
