KBL, Tewor District Sign MOU

A mining company in Bangorma Town, Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount Count, Kimba Bumi Liberia (KBI), over the weekend signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the district to remit a regular monthly development funds to the district.

KBL Liberia Mining Company is a holder of two Class “B” mining licenses for gold mining and residents of Bangorma Town, Mendemassa Clan and Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County.

Speaking during the signing ceremony of the MOU in Tienii Town, Tewor District, the Tewor District Commissioner, Haji Jalieba said the MOU is the first of its kind; and as such, he hoped it will benefit the people in the district, noting.

Commissioner Jalieba said the signing of the MOU signifies that residents under his administration stand to reap the benefit of the soil, and assured he will do everything to justify that confident reposed in him.

The Tewor District Commissioner called on citizens of Bangorma Tow, the Mendemassa Clan and the company to work congenially to protect both the town and the company as well.

According to the MOU, KBL Company will provide US$500 monthly as development fund to the Bangorma Town and to provide US$40 for two volunteer teachers of the Bangorma Community School monthly and US$300 as development fund to the Mendemassa Clan and the district quarterly.

The agreement also underscored the need for the company to provide scholarships for college and university students per semester through the recommendation of the signatories o he MOU.

The agreement also states that “the KBL should train to citizens of Bangorma, Mendemassa Clan and Tewor District who are interested to make use of the opportunity, through the recommendation of the signatories to the MOU.”

For his part, KBL General Manager, Wang Qiang Michael of the KBL commended the peace loving people of the district and the county for being corporative and pointed out that his company has never experience any act of vandalism.

Michael assured his company will work to ensure the implementation of the MOU.
