Owerri – The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State chapter, has honoured Governor Rochas Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sam Onwuemeodo, with Excellence Service Award (Media).
Giving reasons for the award at the new NUJ office complex built for the union by Okorocha, the chairman of the union in the state, Sir Innocent Igwe, said Onwuemeodo has done well to deserve the award, adding that he has sustained a very cordial relationship between the government and the union and always carried the union along in the activities of the state government.
He said the relationship between the government and the union has become so enviable that Okorocha chose to build a very magnificent office complex for the union, which he handed over to the union during the union’s media summit in Owerri.
The chairman said Onwuemeodo has done well both as a media practitioner and also as Chief Press Secretary, adding that the award was to appreciate him for his good work.
In his response, the Chief Press Secretary said the glory of whatever he has achieved both as a media practitioner and as the spokesman of the Imo State governor should go to God, adding that he has always believed that every good opportunity is provided by God.
He dedicated the award to all those who practise journalism with the fear of God.
