…In A One Day Tournament
The Government of the Republic of Liberia and Kakata Old Timers Association are expected to lock horn this weekend in a one-day football match in commemoration of 16 unbroken years of peace festival in Kakata, Margibi County.
The peace festival which is in celebration of Liberia’s 16 years of uninterrupted peace, after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Accord in Accra Ghana, will this weekend be launched in Kakata, Margibi through Juli Endee’s Crusaders for Peace in collaboration with United Nations Peace Building Office
According to Ministry of Youth and Sports Deputy Minister G. Andy Quamie, the two days Peace Festival celebration will start from this Saturday, August 17 and end on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
Quamie said as part of the two days activities, the Government of Liberia captained by President George Manneh Weah will lock horns with the Kakata Old Timers Association in a one day Football Match.
He identified President Weah, Youth and Sports Minister, D. Zeogar Wilson, Minister of State, Nathaniel Mcgill, Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah, LACE Executive Director, Pepci Yekeh, LISGIS Deputy Director, Wilmot Smith, Presidential Press Secretary, Solo Kelbeh, Information Minister, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, and Foreign Affairs Minister Gbenzongar Findley amongst others as players that will be featured for the weekend match.
While Bomi County Representative Edwin Snowe who delivered GOL first victory against UN Liberia will serve as head Coach of the team.
Quamie asserted that the football component of the Peace Festival will commence at 4pm on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Nancy B Doe Stadium in Kakata City, Margibi County.
He however, encourages other interested Ministers and Junior Ministers to take advantage of the ongoing registration process by submitting their names at the Sports Bureau at the Ministry of Youth and Sports at SKD Sports Complex ahead of the game if they are to participate.
