Prophet Williams Onuoha of Galilee Christian Center has lamented a cruel witch-hunt of Pastors of Igbo extraction in Nigeria.
The Prophet who has been in court with the Nigerian police over the freezing of his church’s account by the Nigerian Police in conjunction with EFCC, took to social media to lament the cruel persecution of Pastors of Igbo extraction in Nigeria.
Trouble started when a Yoruba member of his church donated 5 million naira. Same Yoruba man also donated 28 million naira in another church headed by a Yoruba man.
Heavily armed police men stormed his church and demanded for refund of the donation. When he questioned them on why he should refund money legally donated to his church, the policemen responded by telling him that it is an ORDER from the Inspector General of police who is a Yoruba man.
However, the Nigerian police did not go to the Yoruba pastor who received 28 million to ask to refund the money but they came to the Igbo Pastor asking him to refund the money legally donated to his church.
Meanwhile, the Yorubas own about 90% of the churches in Nigeria while their members constitute of at least 70% Igbos. This is because, the Yorubas are 50% Muslims, 20% Christians and about 10% traditional worshipers while others belong to no religion.
On the other hand, the Igbos are about 95% Christians and constitute the bulk of church goers in Nigeria who patronize mega churches owned by the Yorubas. Igbos pay tithe and offerings in hundreds of millions to these Yoruba Pastor every week.
While it is right for Igbos to go to Yoruba churches and pay tithes and offerings in millions, it is wrong for an Igbo Pastor to receive tithes and offerings from a Yoruba man or woman.
“If you are an Igbo Pastor, Reverend or head of any church in Nigeria and it seems like your church is progressing a bit, Nigerian government will come after you and your church with all her security forces just to intimidate, harass and most often even kill you. But all these harassment does not affect any other tribes in the contraption called Nigeria.
Why all these envy and jealousy against Ndigbo biko nu?” A Facebook user wrote.
Recall that Yoruba Pastors are the owners of the private jets while no Igbo Pastor owns a private jet.
The level of hatred against the Igbos in Nigeria is alarming.
