The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Equatorial Guinea in Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg, Turkey and the European Communities, Carmelo Nvono-Ncá, organized a reception on Saturday 14 October at his residence to celebrate the 49th Anniversary of National Independence, which was attended by the staff of the diplomatic mission and other authorities, as well as the Equatorial Guinea colony in that country.
During the celebration, the ambassador delivered a speech, which we reproduce in full below:
– “Dear Equatorial Guinean resident in the Kingdom of Belgium, dear workers of this diplomatic mission:
First of all, I would like to thank you all for your presence today at this celebration which aims to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the independence of our country, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
This is a most memorable date for all of us, and we are grateful for the enormous effort and value of the President and Head of State, S.
Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and the whole of his Government for making Equatorial Guinea a better country every day.
The hard work and effort of the political authorities of our country is what allows us to find ourselves today in a privileged environment and, above all, to continue working to continue raising the international recognition and visibility of our country.
The year 2017 has been tremendously productive and successful for our nation. The most noteworthy fact is probably the election of Equatorial Guinea as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, the most important international peace and security body.
The success of the verdict of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, in favor of our country, shows that international justice also recognizes the good practice of our Government, to the detriment of Western governments that have always game.
Delegations from our Ministries of Fisheries and Aviation have been visiting the Belgian capital during this year to hold important meetings with the European Union, taking important steps in the recommendations of this organization and improving our reputation, once again, in the international context .
I would also like to inform you of some of the challenges ahead, for the last quarter of 2017 and the next 2018, which we hope will be as productive as it has been this year.
Equatorial Guinea is very close to becoming the world headquarters of South-South and Triangular Cooperation of the Group of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, which would automatically position us as a global reference in the new dynamics that is taking international relations : behind was the cooperation of the countries of the North to save the South.
Now African, Latin American and Asian countries have the capacity and resources to match and even position ourselves ahead of the Western countries.
Once again, I want to thank you for your presence today in this celebration, to share with us the pride of celebrating a National Holiday. On behalf of His Excellency, I congratulate all of you on this day and wish you enjoy a more than pleasant celebration of our National Holiday.
Long live S. E. Obiang Nguema Mbagogo!
Long live the Republic of Equatorial Guinea! ”
