MATSAPHA – Businesswoman Thokozile Jele helped Reverend Elias Shongwe of Shongwe and Khuphuka to raise over E150 000 in less than an hour.
This was witnessed on Saturday night during the Light of Christ Church’s fundraising concert. The church under the leadership of Reverend Elias Shongwe, founder and leader of Shongwe and Khuphuka hosted over 1 000 gospel music lovers during the show. It would not have been a show without the group’s performance as they left gospel music lovers wanting more. When the group went on stage, most of the music lovers stood up getting ready to dance. Thrilling Indeed it was dancing throughout.
The group gave a thrilling performance as they performed most of their famous songs. One of the songs that stole the hearts of most of the gospel music lovers was the one titled ‘Egameni LikaJesu’. Not only the fans enjoyed the song as the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Cruiser Ngcamphalala and Manzini South Member of Parliament Jani Sithole went to join the group on stage. The group sang three songs. Just when they were about to leave the stage, the fans demanded more from the group. Shongwe and Khuphuka had no choice but to sing two more songs.
The group just showed how much it loved its fans by the additional songs. Also at his best was Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane who gave a good performance. He sang some of his famous songs which included ‘Zawa Indonga’ and ‘There is a Race’. He performed after Nduduzo Matse who also gave a good performance. Matse went on stage after Nothando Hlophe.
Other artists who performed on the night included Comes to Jesus, Police Gospel Messengers and Jabu Ngcobo. Also attending the show was Mduduzi Nezinceku Zamagagwugawu who also took sometime asking music lovers to make sure they attend this year’s gospel crossover festival. Enjoyed Music lovers enjoyed the group’s performance up until morning with all the artists giving out their best.
