Catalan Parliament Declares Independence From Spain After Votes

Catalonia’s parliament voted Friday to announce autonomy from Spain and declare a republic, similarly as Madrid is ready to force coordinate run on the semi-self-ruling area to leave it speechless.

A motion pronouncing freedom was affirmed with 70 votes in support, 10 against and two abstentions, with Catalan resistance MPs leaving the 135-situate chamber before the vote in dissent at a statement probably not going to be given authority acknowledgment by Madrid and abroad.
