BENIN: State pays off debts to SONEB

The government at the ordinary session of the Council of Ministers, Benin, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, decided the recovery of debts of the SONEB (National Water Company of Benin) on the state, a condition of the first disbursement of the loan contracted in December 2016, from the European Investment Bank (EIB) under the Cotonou Water and Sanitation Project, Phase III.

Given that the improved financial situation of SONEB will help to facilitate the mobilization of resources for the execution of these investment programs with the partners of the sector, the Minister of Water and Mines has solicited from of the Council, the payment of SONEB’s claims on the State.

The Council of Ministers, in approving the communication of the Minister of Seidou Adambi instructed the Minister of Economy and Finance to proceed with the payment of these claims, after the necessary verifications.
