BENIN: Police Interrupts Demonstration Against Transhumance In Cove`

Benin Security operarives dispersed this Tuesday, December 5, 2017 in Covè-center, a movement of the population descended on the streets to protest against the early start of transhumance in the Agonlin region. 

This information was reported by Agence Benin Presse, which indicates that the protesters left the public square of the commune located in front of the local radio station of Covè, but were stopped in their tracks in front of the Ceg 1 of the city where, a horde of police interposed.

This prohibition is due to the illegal nature of this march which was not authorized by the communal authority.

Nevertheless, they have made known the reason for their demonstration, which is mainly against early transhumance in the Agonlin region (Covè, Zagnanado and Ouinhi).

The people are calling for the return of the transhumant Fulani herdsmen who arrived with their herds of cattle before the date of December 26, set by an order of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security.
