Police at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers thwarted Wednesday an attempt to smuggle a large sum of money into euros, reports Ennahar TV.

The sum, 150,000 euros, was seized on a passenger to Istanbul (Turkey), on board a flight of the Turkish company, Turkish Airlines, it says.

It is, it must be remembered, forbidden to leave Algeria to another country with a sum of money in undeclared currency of more than 1,000 euros or dollars. However, a higher amount may be granted if it is previously declared to Customs.
