The Academic staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), AbiaPloy branch, today, embarked on their planned strike insists over unpaid salaries by the school management to its workers.
The union embarked on strike despite the use of the military by the state government and threat of sack by the management to intimidate them into abandoning the strike.
Expressing their anger today at the school gate, the placard carrying lecturers who complained that the management of the school led by Prof. Ezionye Eboh in connivance with the government had intentionally refused to pay for their legitimately earned salaries and wages insisted that the only thing that will assuage them is the sacking of Prof. Eboh and the payment of their salaries.
Meanwhile, the state government led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has stated that Abia Poly as an institution should be able to pay her workers, noting the revenue the school is generating is much enough for the school to pay its workers.
