Some porridge and coconut sellers at Sapeiman Junction in Accra, narrowly escaped death on Sunday, when two articulated trucks zoomed into their wares in a horrific crash.
One of the articulated truck drivers who spoke to Citi News’ Nana Boakye Yiadom, stated that he was coming from the Kumasi-Accra end of the stretch and was about negotiating a curve to Sapeiman, when the other articulated truck run into him, dragging his vehicle over a 50-metre stretch.
Though no casualties were recorded, he explained that his conductor sustained injuries after falling off the heaps of bags of charcoal in the truck.
He added, “I was coming from the toll booth from the Kumasi road and I wanted to negotiate to Sapeiman, but because of the speed at which the other driver was driving, he could not apply brakes. His breaks failed.”
“Those selling around, realizing we were going to crash into them, run for their lives. If they had not done that, I would have killed them.”

Rashidatu Mohammed alias – Rashida Black Beauty, released yet another controversial video of herself stark naked on her social media, spurring media outrage.
The video described as disgusting by many Ghanaians has got several tongues wagging and screaming that her actions are the result of a failed society.
Rashida Black Beauty as she was nick named won a Viral Video of the Year award with her Kushmai recording during the 2016 Jiwe Award. But not everybody was happy about it, as a matter of fact, a lot of people expressed disdain over the organisers of the award event.
Some gutsy individuals voiced out their opinions saying the organisers of the award are the kind of people who have taken it upon themselves to destroy the moral fiber of the country.
While some thought she needed help and her actions were a reflection of society’s failure, others believe it was a deliberate and self-conscious act so she must take responsibility for it.
Meanwhile, amid the tongue lashing, Rashida Black Beauty took to her Facebook page to apologise. Her apology reads…
“Hello Ghana, I am sorry and I regret my actions, there is a lot of explanation to this video but I guess the harm has already been done so no one will be willing to hear what I have to say or tell them.
“All I want to say is I regret my actions and I hope Ghanaians do forgive me… Thank you!”
This latest show described as a moral degeneration by the fast rising social media celebrity, Rashida Black Beauty sparked judgemental discussions on the WhatsApp platform by Alliance for Women in Media, Africa.
Many of the platform users spoke up saying:
“I don’t think she has good people around her. Her manager only seemed interested in getting his hands on the money people offered her to help further her education.”
Another user named Rhema noted that society has failed people like Rashida by reducing popularity and fame to nudity and indecency.
People like Efe Plange, Founder of Sankofa Reviews concured with this social media user, Afua who said that without controversy, a decent hardworking person cannot trend.
Plange said:
“You cannot do decent diligent work and make it in Ghana. Looks like you have to be dubious to have it work out for you. She is a product of our society, a reflection of our system.”
The discussion which started off about the welfare of Rashida Black Beauty turned into a critical look at what possibly triggered her actions and its possible consequences on the present generation. Some said depression and management should be neglected.
Rashida’s actions further spurred concerns over the role of media in promoting sexual indecency and the growing trend of sex tape leaks.
A comment made by the Whatsapp page contributor reads:
“Social media sets the pace now. Traditional media must be up and doing.
“We have to blame ourselves most media houses now pick their news bulletin from social media, lazy journalism.”
The contributor believes that if the media is truly setting the agenda and is supposed to work in the interest of the people in a professional practice then discussions around video leaks will be steered in a more healthy direction.
As criticising as many of the opinions are, some supported her nude display saying “she’s a human being who has every right to be heard and seen, adding that oppression of women’s bodies is the reason people like Rashida Black Beauty should be lauded.
Currently, Rashida Black Beauty has 7,086 followers on her IG page which, by the way, is a private account.

A Ghanaian has been all over the internet for all the wrong reasons. A viral video online is alleged to be that of Rashidatu Mohammed also known as Rashida Black Beauty. The video of the naked beautiful Ghana young lady has been making waves and tongues has wagging as a result.
While some thought she needed help and that her actions were a reflection of society’s failure, others felt it was a deliberate act so she must
take responsibility for her action.
During the 2016 Jigwe Award, Rashida Black Beauty won Viral Video of the Year award with her Kushmai recording.
Not everyone lauded her winning the award and also expressed disdain about the organisers.
“The organisers of the award are the kind of people destroying the moral fiber of this country” said a lady who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The discussion was on the WhatsApp platform for Alliance for Women in Media, Africa.
“I don’t think she has good people around her. Her manager only seemed interested in getting his hands on the money people offered her to help further her education,” another interviewee said.
One Rhema noted that society had failed people like Rashida by reducing popularity and fame to nudity and indecency.
Afua observed that “without controversy a decent hardworking person doesn’t trend”.
“You cannot do decent diligent work and make it in Ghana. Looks like you have to be dubious to have it work out for you. She is a product of our society, a reflection of our system,” Efe Plange, Founder of Sankofa Reviews said
Another said discussions should revolve around depression and its management however the discussion which started off about the welfare of Rashida Black Beauty turned into a critical look at what possibly contributed her actions and the consequences of her action on today’s generation.
It also triggered concerns about the role of media in promoting sexual indecency and the growing trend of sex tape leaks: “Social media sets the pace now”, “traditional media must be up and doing”, “We have to blame ourselves most media houses now pick their news bulletin from social media, lazy journalism”, comments from the page said.
The media is not setting the agenda right or maybe journalists are no longer setting the agenda.
If the media is truly setting the agenda and is supposed to work in the interest of the people in a professional practice then discussions around video leaks will be steered in a more healthy direction.
It’s great to have divergent views, the discussion grew more interesting.
“And why shouldn’t they? It’s a story? She’s a human being who deserves to be heard and seen.
That oppression of women’s bodies is the reason we have her. Let her have her agency!” someone replied.
“She would have trended and ended on social media, but we brought her to national attention through the power of television and radio,” Dela said.
It is true the penetration of radio and television in the country cannot be compared to that of the internet.
Again not everyone who uses the internet is on social media so less harm could have been done if the trend ended on the social media.
Just when the discussion got to its peak, Rashida Black Beauty posts on her facebook page, “Hello Ghana, I am sorry and I regret my actions, there is a lot of explanation to this video but I guess the harm has already been done so no one will be willing to hear what I have to say or tell them.
All I want to say is I regret my actions and I hope Ghanaians do forgive me… Thank you!”

Nana Akufo Addo, President of Ghana has applauded a team of Ghanaian and Japanese Scientist who launched the country’s first satellite into space on Friday, July 7, 2017. A team of Scientists from All Nations University in Ghana’s eastern region in collaboration with Japanese, made it possible for the West African country to be among countries whose satellite orbit the earth. A two years contract with Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will cost Ghana $50,000.
While the satellite GhanaSat-1 was making it’s way into space from the International Space Station (ISS), the team back in Ghana watched from the University’s auditorium.
Congratulations to the team from All Nations Uni., Koforidua, for the successful launch of Ghana’s 1st satellite, GhanaSat-1, into orbit.

The International Space Station (ISS) is a space station, or a habitable artificial satellite, in low Earth orbit. Its first component was launched into orbit in 1998, and the ISS is now the largest human-made body in low Earth orbit and can often be seen with the naked eye from Earth.
The International Space Station with ESA’s Columbus laboratory flies 400 km high at speeds that defy gravity – literally. At 28 800 km/h it only takes 90 minutes for the weightless laboratory to make a complete circuit of Earth.
Meanwhile, the President of Ghana has congratulated the team for the successful launch of Ghana’s first satellite, in a tweet from the twitter handle of the President of Ghana, Akufo Addo. “Congratulations to the team from All Nations University, Koforidua, for the successful launch of Ghana’s first satellite, GhanaSat-1, into orbit,” the President twitted.
GhanaSat-1 has low and high resolution cameras on it and it is expected to orbit the earth from a distance of 400km (248 miles). The satellite will be used for mapping and monitoring of Ghana’s coastline.

Ghana – NDC Party Kwesi Botchwey Committee Sitting, Members Trade Blows

Confusion broke out in the Eastern Region Friday afternoon between some executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), at a sitting of the Dr. Kwesi Botchwey-led committee, aimed at diagnosing the party’s loss in the December 2016 elections.
This comes after some foot soldiers of the party prevented regional executives for engaging in a similar meeting with the fact-finding committee on [Thursday] at the Eredec Hotel in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua.
The committee was scheduled to meet NDC branch executives from Asougyamang, Asesewa, Odumase and Somanya constituencies, to deliberate on issues which led to their defeat in the December elections.
Denis Astu Benya, the spokesperson for a group calling itself “The Concerned Youth of NDC” in Lower manya, who confirmed the clash to Citi News, accused a branch chairman of the party, David Hormenu Walter of assaulting their leader, Doe David, a former TEIN Vice President.
They claimed that he ordered his body guards to descend on them as they tried to present a petition to Dr. Kwesi Botchwey calling for the resignation of all party branch executives.
A member of the NDC injured as a result of the confusion.
A member of the NDC injured as a result of the confusion.
He said “we heard that Kwesi Botchwey committee will be meeting party executives so we decided to organize ourselves once again and send our petition to him and also tell him our grievances, as our leader tried to approach Dr. Kwasi Botchwey to hand over our petition to him, chairman David Walter walked to him tried to prevent him from doing so and started assaulting him, he then called their body guards to descend on us and the scene was not pleasant at all”
The spokesperson added that, the police was later called in to restore order. “The police swiftly moved in to separate us but our leader has lodged a complaint of assault at the police station against chairman Walter.”
The group on several occasions this year locked the party office, preventing branch executives from operating, and also petitioned both Regional and National executives of the party calling for their branch executives to step down as they believe they caused the party’s poor performance during the December elections.
All attempts to reach the party chairman Mr. David Hormenu Walter for his reaction, have proved futile.
NDC will bounce back – Mahama
This comes barely hours after former President, John Mahama, said on twitter that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will “bounce back.” He said members of the party must help to strengthen the party’s base to ensure that it returns to power.

Ghana: Angry bride avoids groom’s kiss after exchanging vows (Watch)

The church was filled with families, friends, and many guests. It was their wedding day.
After exchanging the vows, the priest asked the groom to kiss the bride. He made an attempt and as he moved close to his bride to kiss her officially before all, she turned away!
He attempted again and she pushed him away from her! Surprise. Then, the congregation erupted in laughter and the latest husband too smiled. Obviously, he was embarrassed by his pregnant bride standing before him with anger visibly written on her face.
This is no television drama. It happened recently in Ghana and the video has gone viral on the Internet.
The lady who was visibly angry throughout the wedding turned away her face when the man made a move to kiss her ahead of their marriage pronouncement. Not only did she turn her face but also pushed him away from her while still in an angry mood.
Everyone wonders what came over her. Though there are many reasons why brides get angry on wedding days, the major factor, according to psychologists, is the inability of a groom to keep a promise(s) made.
Also, some adduced pregnancy-induced stress for this particular bride’s behavior who could not help but look angry but many said she wanted to teach her husband a lesson.
The bride isn’t the only one to get mad at a groom during a wedding. In April 2016, according to the Hindus reports, an Indian bride cancelled her wedding with her groom after realizing he had no toilet built in his home in India.
The groom had failed to complete the toilet before the day he was supposed to tie the knot. The 25-year-old bride later agreed to marry another suitor who had a toilet in his home, The Hindu reports.
